SUPPORTING MY CLAIMS

Am I supporting my claims with evidence? What is the relationship between the claim and the evidence in your argument?

We had to discuss, write and explain around the following claim:

"it is necessary to explicitly learn grammar in order to learn a new language"

I consider that my claims were guided and supported by evidence, due to I tried to search for good evidences that allow validity to my argument. I like to write based on authors that can help or support my position. How ever, thought I use quotations for my writing, sometimes I forgot to put the source of information and that is a mistake because my readers could not understand where what I write comes from.

I think the relationship between the claim and the evidence should be clear and precise because if we are saying that:

Main claim: for beginners, by itself, a good command of the grammar of a language does not imply that a person is able to communicate effectively.

Evidence: According to Krashen's natural acquisition hypothesis (1981), students learn a language only through unconscious acquisition and there is no need for conscious awareness, we mean, mandatory conscious of rules.

And warrant: it is possible an implicit learning of grammar through meaningful input that help students to develop communicative skills.

My claim is that know about explicit grammar does not mean effective communication,  but the evidence that supports is the author's position, which is an author appropiate for this topic. In this way it is verified that the relationship between these two elements is essential. And probably we made some mistakes or fall in biases, such as not search for more evidences or different points of views, but as we tried to give an supported opinion, we didn't to look for a neutral position.  Sometimes it is difficutl to realize about the possible mistakes around arguing.
